N2Y4
N2Y4
I'm rounding out my second month as part of the DataDyne.org team at the NetSquared Year 4 conference in San Jose, CA. I'm here, sitting in a room with 320 people who are all interested how mobile technology can be used to promote social justice. John Zoltner, our partner in Chile, and I are promoting DatAgro. DatAgro, the pilot project of DataDyne's MIP technology, is a system by which farmers in rural Chile can access locally-relevant information via SMS message to help increase their productivity and improve their livelihoods. DatAgro was selected as one of the 15 finalists in the N2Y4 challenge grant.
I just gave a 2 minute introduction to the DatAgro project - 2 minutes is a really short amount of time to introduce ourselves. We are here to learn and to share and to rally support for our work. I stood on stage with 14 other organizations that are doing interesting and important work that is, through mobile technology, changing the world for the better. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them over the next two days. They are an empassioned and inspiring group. I am excited to be a part of this group. At the end of the conference, the assembled group will vote for the top three of the assembled 15. MIP technology is a great example of using mobile access to improve the information equity of the world. You can read more about the DatAgro project here and about the NetSquared Conference here.
