M-pesa Goes Global

M-pesa Goes Global

In a coup for Kenya, the M-pesa mobile money transfer (mFinance?) system offered by Safaricom has now become the first mobile international money transfer service. This is amazing news for Kenyans, and for everyone else, too. Right now my bank charges me $30 to wire money internationally. I have no doubt that the charges for M-pesa are going to be a LOT lower -- and that this kind of innovation and competition will help us all.

Once again: Kenya driving innovation. Quite an achievement for this country, despite it's recent political troubles. It shows that Kenyas are not only creating these solutions, but also willing to adopt them -- as the tremendous success of M-pesa shows.
