Final Push in Stopping Transmission of Wild Polio Virus in Kenya
Today marks day one of the Sub National Immunization day in Turkana district.During the day all the three Turkana district did their launch which was graced by high level diginitaries among them the District commisioner of Turkana Central, Dr. Ben Nkowane from WHO Geneva, Dr. Shem Kiptoon ,WHO KCO and Johnny Musyoka , National Disease surveillance coordinator.
The campaign targets over 400,000 children aged 0 months to 14 years.This is in line with WHO recommendations. Over 40% of confirmed polio cases are children aged 5 years and above here in Turkana. It's a short additional doses strategy , 5 days campaign with a two day break before the second passage
EpiSurveyor is being used once again as the software of choice. Interesting as it coincides with the release of the new version of EpiSurveyor. Within a short time using the new feature of instant analysis I could see who has sent and not sent data to the server. It's mind boggling as to how the developers managed to do it. Kudos to the development team.
