COOPEUMO's 41st Anniversary

COOPEUMO's 41st Anniversary

Last week the COOPEUMO cooperative in Chile celebrated their 41st anniversary. For a student of history that is familiar with Chile’s political turmoil over the past 30+ years will understand the accomplishment that the cooperative’s 41 years represents.

It is our privilege to mark our own anniversary with COOPEUMO. For the past year, DataDyne.org and the Zoltner Consulting Group have been working with (link in Spanish) the nearly three hundred farmers in COOPEUMO to bring them news and information that is essential to their livelihoods.

Using MIP technology, the technical directors at COOPEUMO have worked with DataDyne.org to create a web interface that allows users to send text messages to their subscribers. After the celebration, there are now nearly 250 subscribers to the DatAgro system. They receive messages daily that outline major world events, weather and crop prices. Additionally, the cooperative can use their own channel to coordinate events and alert their members to local happenings.

We wish COOPEUMO a great 41st year and many more to come. I hope that DataDyne.org can continue to work with such great partners to help spread information and innovation to those that need it the most.
