Joel Selanikio was chosen as the recipient of the 2005 Haverford Award, from his alma mater Haverford College, "for exemplary service to humanity" as a doctor treating tsunami victims with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Sumatra after the December 2004 tsunami.
