EpiSurveyor 3-Country Pilot
EpiSurveyor 3-Country Pilot
May 1, 2006
For the second year in a row, DataDyne has won grant funding from the UN Foundation to support continuing development and testing of the EpiSurveyor project in the context of a three country pilot project in collaboration with WHO/AFRO and CDC.
Starting in Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Zambia, provincial supervisors will use the software, and a Palm handheld computer, to collect supervisory information for their clinics and then aggregate and analyze the data nationally. By replacing the current, paper-based process with a low-cost, open-source digital solution, decisionmakers in the countries' ministries of health will be able to gain current information about the state of treatment for HIV, malaria, and other important diseases and conditions at their facilities faster than ever before. We believe that increased information will lead to increased quality in the treatment of patients in these countries.
